Controlling the mosquito population has become a high priority in Oakland County and county officials are willing to help out municipalities who are taking measures to work on the problem.
The Village of Lake Orion is eligible to receive up to $1,100 through this program which hopes to prevent the spread of the West Nile Virus.
According to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, the village will use larvicide and natural control measurers through providing purple martin houses and bat houses in appropriate green areas.
