Addison Twp Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a serious injury crash involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Ford F-150 pickup truck at Rochester Rd. and Yule Rd. on Friday, August 28.
At approximately 3 p.m., 50-year-old Macomb Co. resident Edward Salas and 41-year-old Macomb Co. resident Diane Witan were traveling northbound on a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle when they were struck by a 2005 Ford F-150 that was traveling southbound.
According to police, the truck, driven by 81-year-old Lake Orion resident Robert Turner, crossed the double yellow line while driving along a curved portion of the road and struck the motorcycle that Salas was driving.
Witan, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, sustained life-threatening injuries to her legs and abdominal area and was airlifted to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Salas complained of minor injuries and was taken to POH. Turner reported no injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and helmets were worn on the motorcycle. The Crash Reconstruction Unit of Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Addison Twp. substation with the investigation.
