The Clarkston Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Concerts in the Park? series has only two dates left for the summer. On July 19, the second-to-last features the unique sound and personality of the group Murphy’s Law.
Murphy’s Law presents a show with rock, country, jazz and standard influences that is enjoyable to all ages. Audiences get a chance to hear hits from ARS to Zevon and everywhere in between. That leaves plenty of room for favorites from the Dixie Chicks, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Bare Naked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan and others as well as lesser known artists like John Gorka and Karla Bonoff.
Changing styles and gears is nothing new to the group. Award-winning vocalist Meg Murphy is surrounded by a group of experienced musicians who have shared the stage with artists such as Livingston Taylor and Pat Alger.
Meg’s vocals are described as ‘sweet, gentle, and innocent until she rips through a Zeppelin tune with incredible power and grace.?
Murphy’s Law originals highlight strong musicianship with a taste of interesting instruments such as the pedal steel guitar and dobro in combination with colorful harmonies and a rock steady rhythm section.
‘We are very excited to play at the Clarkston series. All of the group members are either originally from Clarkston or the surrounding area,? said group member Rod Yeacker. ‘We have a fun show prepared and we’ll have a couple of local guest musicians joining us at times which should make for an interesting evening.?
Yeaker added the group will be playing a variety of games during their show that will encourage audience participation.
‘Murphy’s Law? takes the stage at 7 p.m in Depot Park.
