On Sunday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m., Joe Tackett and Chuck Moses will be featured in the Lake Orion Township Public Library’s ‘Second Sunday? concert series.
Tackett, a guitar player, and Moses, a bass player, will perform with a computerized big band, and will perform music from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Tackett describes the act as ‘an old nostalgia type thing.?
Instructors from Elegance in Motion Ballroom Dancing will demonstrate ‘dances from the jitterbug to the waltz,? according to the event brochure.
Light refreshments will follow the entertainment.
Tackett, a Lake Orion resident, works full time in the music business with his company, Start The Party. He performs in multiple capacities, doing anything from disk jockeying to playing with a ten-piece band.
Tackett has performed in various venues in Orion, including Indianwood Country Club.
He is also a member of a 50’s nostalgia show band that he describes as ‘one of the best in the world.? They have recently performed at the Gratiot Dream Cruise and the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Tackett’s act at the Sep. 9 concert will be accompanied by dancing that matches the era and style of his music.
The company providing dance instruction, Elegance In Motion, is located on Baldwin Road in Lake Orion, where owners Sarah and Curtis Haremza have taught dance for three years.
The company teaches all kinds of dance, and also travels to dance competitions across the country.
The music and dance afternoon opens the Library’s ‘Second Sunday? special event series. On the second Sunday of every month, Orion residents are invited to the meeting room of the library at 2 p.m. for a concert or a movie showing.
