They may look tough on the outside, but the riders of the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club have hearts to help.
Nam Knights Michigan Chapter President Tony Caron presented John Squires, father in law to U.S. Marine Sgt. Trevor Blaylock, with a $2,000 check earlier this month to support his survived family in a time of need.
Blaylock was killed in a military helicopter crash March 10 off the Florida panhandle. The community rallied together in his support when his family transported him home.
Nam Knights? mission is to honor the memory of fallen service men and women, to assist veterans and police officers in times of need, and to promote community awareness through sponsorship and participation in fundraising events.
The Michigan Chapter is located in Yale, northeast of Lapeer.
The Oxford American Legion Post hosted the check presentation after a hearty breakfast benefit raised the $2,000 in May.
‘Thank you for all the support from the community,? Squires, father of Trevor’s wife Lisa Blaylock, said. ‘It’s been overwhelming right from the folks that were standing on Lapeer when we brought Trevor home, up to the benefit, and the support we are still getting. I just want to say thank you.?
Nam Knights expressed their wish to continue the breakfast benefit for the Blaylock family on an annual basis, but from the family’s point of view, ‘We think the next check should be donated in Trevor’s name to the Wounded Warriors, which we support,? Squires said.
‘It comes from our heart,? Caron said. ‘It’s the least we could do, that’s what we are here for, that’s what the Nam Knights are all about, and that’s what we are going to do.?
The Nam Knights of America Motor Cycle Club has grown to 53 chapters in 12 states, originally founded in New Jersey.
