‘It’s absolutely terrific,? said Clarkston Rotary President Bart Clark of the new Neiman’s Family Market set to open in late May or mid-June.
Renovation of the former Farmer Jack store located on Dixie Highway and White Lake Road began on Jan. 14.
On the same day, Clarkston’s Rotarians hosted Bryan Neiman who spoke to the group about various ways Neiman’s Family Market hopes to get involved in the community.
‘My dad was a Rotarian,? said Neiman who served on the St. Clair Rotary’s board for three years. With the Clarkston store, Neiman aims to express an attitude similar to the Rotarians, who ‘put service before self,? he said.
At other store locations, Neiman’s Family Markets have given back to the community by working with the local Rotary. For example, at the St. Clair store, local Rotarians partnered with Neiman’s to put together 11,000 pounds of groceries, which were donated to a food bank.
Getting the store involved in the community isn’t only done through partnering with local organizations, Neiman pointed out. ‘We want to be that local, hometown grocery store,? he said.
To accomplish this task, Neiman’s Market intends to carry products grown, made, and produced locally. The store has already approached Cook’s Dairy Farm and hopes to sell their milk and ice cream.
They’ll also seek public input through ‘Can’t Find It? cards, which will be available in the store. By filling out a card, residents can ask for particular products they’d like to see sold, and ‘what people want in the store, we’ll do our best to get it in,? Neiman stated.
By requesting local products and partnering with Clarkston’s organizations, ‘the community will lead us,? said Neiman. ‘We’re looking forward to working with them,? said Clark.
