No place for partisan question

Dear Editor,
(In response to ‘Trustee applicants make their case,? The Citizen, Jan. 23, page 7.)
A comment regarding Brandon Township Supervisor Kathy Thurman’s interviews of candidates to fill the vacant trustee seat.
She made this comment about the political affilation of the people applying for the office. Thurman said she ‘asked their party affiliation because the November ballot is partisan and because it would help give (her) ‘an understanding of what kind of thinkers they are.?? What difference does it make if the person is a Republican, Democrat or Independent? These people want to help out the township, and not to think along party lines. I understand that the township board is all Republican, but I think that is a poor prerequisite to use when picking out the most capable person for the job. I also applaud Mr. Kovasity for responding, ‘I’m sorry, that’s private.?
