The number of communities that belong to the North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium will stay at1 19.
Lake Orion Village Council members on Jan. 12 declined to join it.
LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel had recommended not joining with the consortium because there was no indication as to what the cost would be to the village. Also, Orion Township hasn’t joined because it conducts its own collection of hazardous waste in conjunction with Eagle Valley Landfill.
The consortium was formed to provide taxpayers a safe and environmental responsible cost-effective way to dispose of household hazardous waste.
