North Oakland Concert Band going ‘spooky? for Oct. 29 show

Another North Oakland Concert Band concert season begins Sunday, Oct. 29, with a 3 p.m. performance at the Lake Orion High School Performing Arts Center.
Conductor Annette Kline will again lead the band through its paces. This time with a diverse selection of songs, including some marking the Halloween season.
The theme for the upcoming free concert is ‘Our Fall Fantasies,? with musical offerings ranging from Richard Wagner’s Liebestod from the opera ‘Triston and Isolde,? to the traditional marches of John Phillip Sousa.
Other selections in Sunday’s performance include: a Halloween-style arrangement called, ‘A Spooky Blast From the Past,? an arrangement of eerie TV tunes arranged by band member Laura Mazich, and a contemporary arrangement of ‘Ride? by Samuel R. Hazo.
Music Director and Conductor, Annette Kline, offers her wam style along with strong artistry which has drawn rave reviews from the band’s audiences and the musicians.
Having received her bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from Oakland University, Kline earned her master’s degree conducting under the direction of Dr. David Daniels.
She was awarded the Distringuished Musicianship honor in 1991, and has appeared as guest conductor for several community orchestras and bands in the Metro Detroit area.
She currently teaches music in the Lake Orion Schools.
The North Oakland Concert Band has been performing for 28 years and its roster includes about 80 volunteer musicians from the northern Metro Detroit area.
The band performs several concerts annually throughout the area, all featuring a wide variety of music, from classical to pop.
The Lake Orion High School Performing Arts Center is located in the high school on Scripps Road, east of Lapeer Road (M-24).
