Oakland man arraigned after firing weapon five times
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of felonious assault on Tamarack Street in Oakland Township on Dec. 18, after a report of a man with a gun inside a home with his girlfriend and her son.
According to OCSD Lt. Dale Miller, who was on the scene, the 41-year-old man was inside the home at about 11 p.m., with his live-in girlfriend and her son, who Miller said was believed to be 17 or 18 years old. The subject had a .358 Magnum revolver, and was refusing to leave the house.
‘He thought some people were after him, and looking for him,? said Miller. ‘I think he had a temporary lapse…We were on the scene until 12:30 a.m. or so.?
Miller said the man fired the weapon five times, but no one was hurt in the incident. A perimeter was set up around the home, and the subject surrendered.
The man was transported to the Oakland County Jail, and was arraigned on Dec. 19 on one count of felonious assault and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
The first count has a maximum sentence of four years, and the reckless discharge a maximum sentence of one year in jail, Miller said.
