Oakland Township Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the first concert in their free ‘Music in the Meadows? series.
Enjoy the music of nationally acclaimed Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem; a four-person string band that celebrates American roots music with voices, strings, and 100-percent recycled percussion.
The concert starts at 7 p.m.; satellite parking shuttles start at 5 p.m. from Cranberry Lake Park, 388 West Predmore Road. In case of bad weather, concerts will be held indoors. Call (248)651-4440, ext. 299, the day of the concert to verify the location.
Also, bring the kids early for a pre-show, Recycled Rhythms Workshop. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll make a wooden ‘harmonica? and a wacky, found-object drum set with percussionist Scott Kessel from the band Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem.
Along with cans, bottles, cardboard boxes, pencils, and rubber bands, we’ll recycle rhythms from around the world into beats of our own ? and then we’ll strike up the whole, recycled band. Workshop starts at 5:30 p.m.; pre-register your second-fifth grader at (248)651-7810.
This family event is at Lost Lake Nature Park, 846 Lost Lake Trail, (south of Predmore Road, between Kline and Rochester Roads), Friday, June 22. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted; snacks and cold beverages will be available for purchase.
Other concerts scheduled in this series include Electric Mozart at Cranberry Lake Farm on July 13, World Jazz at Bear Creek on Aug. 17 and Swingin? Easy fundraiser at Twin Lakes Golf and Swim Club on Oct. 3.
