The Ortonvile Community Emergency Fund will be accepting donations for their annual Easter food distribution. The OCEF food pantry, through St. Anne’s church at 825 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville, will be helping 185 families put food on the table for the upcoming holiday.
The items that OCEF is looking for are cake mix, frosting, egg dye, Jello, pudding, canned soup, green beans, candy, tuna, canned fruit, muffin or quick bread mix, macaroni and cheese, corn, other vegetables, potatoes or yams, peanut butter and jelly, as well as $25 gift cards to Bueche’s to purchase meat and fresh items.
Donations can be brought to the gathering area next to the food donation basket, and the cards can go in the wooden box also in the gathering area. All of the food will be sorted at 1 p.m., March 25, which is also when all donations need to be received by.
Volunteers will pack the food for each family at 8 a.m. March 26, and they will be picked up by the families that afternoon.
Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Carol Klenner, the OCEF volunteer coordinator, at 248-627-3965 ext. 102 or a ocef@churchofstanne.org.
OCEF also asks that you check expiration dates before donating, as expired product cannot be given to the families.
