OCSD mourns loss of Deputy Timko

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department paid respects to one of their hardest-working, most well-liked members on Monday.
Deputy Robert Steven Timko passed away on July 16. He was 48.
Deputy Timko had been employed by the Orion Substation for the past 10 years and started with the sheriff’s department in 1990.
‘He had 18 years of perfect attendance with the sheriff’s department,? Orion Substation Lieutenant Bruce Naile said. ‘He was a really good public relations officer. You never saw him without a smile on his face.?
Deputy Timko is survived by his wife Ellen and daughters Tamara and Taylor, as well as his mother Margaret, brother Steve (Colleen) and many loving family members and friends.
He was very passionate about hunting and the outdoors and dearly loved his family. Naile said Timko loved serving as a motor unit officer and was one of the department’s motorcycle instructors.
‘He enjoyed what he did and he did it well,? Naile said.
Deputy Timko, of Dryden and formerly of Shelby Township, was born Feb. 28, 1960, the son of Robert and Margaret (Niccolai) Timko.
He graduated from Eisenhower High School and entered the United States Army, serving three years in Alaska.
Services were held at Dryden Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Nathan Bills and Fr. Wayne Ureel officiating. Arrangements from the Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont.
Memorials may be made to the family for Deputy Timko’s children’s future college education.
