One of Orion’s Finest

United States Marine Corps Corporal Nate Tomanek, a 2002 graduate of Lake Orion High School, was honored before the Dragons? home football game on Sept. 9, where he presented the game ball to the referee crew.
Tomanek served his country from 2004-08, including three tours of duty in Iraq as a member of a special forces unit. He recently trained new marines on what to expect when deployed to the warzone. Tomanek is a third generation marine. Today, he is a member of the Marine Reserves.
He and his wife live in Lake Orion, where he is an apprentice electrician. Tomanek played defensive back for Lake Orion and still holds the school record for most tackles in a game. Pictured, teacher and coach Steve Roberts presents Tomanek with a commemorative game ball and during a pre-game ceremony.
