Ortonville village manager search moves ahead

Ortonville- Difficulty in coordinating interviews has delayed the hiring of a new village manager, but council president Susan Bess hopes to have one in place by the end of June.
Bess and councilmember Kay Green had interviewed two individuals at press time and two more interviews were planned. One candidate withdrew after taking a position elsewhere.
‘All the interview candidates have master’s degrees in political science, business administration or public administration,? said Bess, who declined to give names, but added they are not local people. ‘We’re impressed with the credentials.?
Former village manager Paul Zelenak resigned May 16 to become city manager of Bloomfield Hills. Since that time, Bess said the village has ‘opened up overtime? to village employees to ensure everything gets done.
‘Everybody has stepped up to the plate,? she said.
