The Oakland Outlaws U14 baseball team took first place during the 19th annual Grand Blanc Tournament, held July 14-16, and then went on to win the North Branch Tournament, July 21-23.
In their first title run, the Outlaws played five games, averaging six runs per game offensively, while playing terrific defense and giving up only nine runs throughout all games played.
The Outlaws? pitching staff, consisting of JD Horecki, Max Cotton, Alex Seaman and Mike Nelson, threw lasers, while averaging six strikeouts per game amongst themselves.
The offense throughout the tournament came off the bats of Nathan Garrett (.455), Tyler Beltz (.357), Billy Kammerer (.313), Nelson (.308) and Brian Diven’s 2-run blast over the fence against the S. Farmington Giants.
At the North Branch tourney, the team allowed an average of only three runs per game. The top players were Anthony Bullock and Kammerer, hitting .500, Seaman, .429, Steven Swetich, .400, and Diven, .385; followed by Beltz, hitting .364.
The team is made up of players from Orion, as well as Clarkston, Oxford and Brandon.
