Over 1,000 cranes

Students in the eighth grade Team 8B at Waldon Middle School surprised teacher John Gray recently by presenting him with 1,032 paper cranes they made in class in honor of him after he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in December. The students made the cranes based on the story ‘Sadako and the 1,000 Paper Cranes,? which says that, according to an old story, a crane is supposed to live 1,000 years, and if someone folds 1,000 cranes, their wish will be granted to be healthy again. Gray said he has one more treatment to undergo and hopes to be back teaching at Waldon in the fall.
