Oxford Community Schools
Please take notice that due to the resignation of Bill Keenist, effective May 1, 2014, one (1) seat is vacant on the Oxford Board of Education seven (7) member board.
The State of Michigan General School Laws states that board member vacancies shall be filled within 30 days from the effective date of a resignation. The vacancy shall be filled with a legally qualified person who is appointed by vote of the remaining members of the board at a regular or special meeting of the board. The person appointed to fill a vacancy shall file acceptance of the office, including an affidavit of eligibility, with the secretary of the board, and shall take the oath of office as prescribed by law. The appointee shall hold office until the next school election.
Guidelines for interested parties include the following:
QUALIFICATIONS: U. S. Citizen, 18 years of age, registered voter, and resident of the Oxford Community School District.
APPLICATION: A letter of intent, with a resume, describing why the applicant wants to serve on the Board, and what unique qualities, expertise or experience they may have to contribute to the Board of Education. The documents must be submitted to Superintendent William C. Skilling, 10 N. Washington Street, Oxford, MI 48371. Upon receipt of the letter of intent,
an application will be sent to the interested party. Deadline for submitting applications is 4:00 p.m. on May 2, 2014.
TERM OF OFFICE: Appointee shall serve on the Board of Education until December 31, 2014.
INTERVIEWS: Public interviews will be held at a special meeting of the Oxford Board of Education on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Offices.

Oxford Community Schools is accepting proposals to select a preferred vendor who has a warranty repair shop and certified technicians for converting an existing analog two-way radio system to a digital two-way radio system that will provide district-wide coverage. Bid specifications are available on the district’s web site at www.oxfordschools.com.

Notice is hereby given that sealed Bids for a SPECIAL EDUCATION INFORMATION SYSTEM will be received by Oxford Community Schools, 745 N. Oxford Road, Oxford, Michigan 48371, Attention: Timothy Loock, Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations, C/O Patrice Bono. The hardcopy Bids and related electronic compilation media are due on or before 11:00 a.m., EDT, July 15, 2010 when they will be publicly opened. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Offices, 105 Pontiac Street, Oxford, Michigan, the Board of Education will hold a Public meeting at which will be offered for adoption a resolution to impose a summer tax levy of all of its annual property tax levy.

The adoption of the proposed resolution would result in the annual levy of all of school property taxes on July 1. The Board of Education, under Act 451, Public Acts of Michigan, 1976, as amended, may impose a summer tax levy of all of annual school taxes, If a summer tax levy is imposed, the school district may enter in to agreements with each city or township in which it is located, or a county treasurer, for collection of the summer taxes, or may collect such taxes itself pursuant to said Act 451.

This notice is given by order of the Board of Education.

The Oxford Community Schools will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for the 2009-2010 school year at the regular meeting of the Board of Education at the administration building, main conference room, 105 Pontiac Street, Oxford, MI beginning at 7:00 p.m. on June 22, 2009. A copy of the proposed budget including the proposed tax millage rate is available for public inspection at the above address during regular business hours.
THE PROPERTY TAX MILLAGE RATE PROPOSED TO BE LEVIED TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED BUDGET WILL BE A SUBJECT OF THIS HEARING.

Please take notice that due to the resignation of Sue Tombrella, effective June 13, 2009, one (1) seat is vacant on the Oxford Board of education seven (7) member board.
The State of Michigan General School Laws states that board member vacancies shall be filled within 30 days from the effective date of resignation. The vacancy shall be filled with a legally qualified person who is appointed by vote of the remaining members of the board at a regular or special meeting of the board. The person appointed to fill a vacancy shall file acceptance of the office, including an affidavit of eligibility, with the secretary of the board, and shall take the oath of office as prescribed by law. The appointee shall hold office until the next annual school election.
Guidelines for interested parties include the following:
qualifications: U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age, registered voter, and resident of the Oxford Area Community School District.
APPLICATION: A letter of intent must be submitted to Superintendent William C. Skilling, 105 Pontiac Street, Oxford, MI 48371. Upon receipt an application will be provided to the interested party. Deadline for submitting the application is 3:00 p.m. on June 3, 2009.
TERM OF OFFICE; Appointee shall serve on the Board of Education until December 31, 2009.
INTERVIEWS: The board will select candidates from the applicants who have applied to be publicly interviewed at a special meeting of the Board of Education on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Board of Education Offices.
APPOINTMENT: On June 15, 2009.
