The Wildcats are getting used to the number two. The Oxford Golf Team finished second out of a four-team tournament on May 10, further solidifying their second place stranglehold in the Flint Metro League.
Although the Wildcats did not score as well as they would have liked, a team finish of 236 was good enough to push them ahead of Birmingham Groves (240), and West Bloomfield (242). The first place team was Birmingham Seaholm, which is considered one of the best in the area.
For the Lady Wildcats, perhaps they simply faced another long course on a wet day. After watching thunderstorms roll through the area the night before, Birmingham Country Club was a bit soggy for the day’s rounds.
However, some of Oxford’s best scores included Karen Offer, who shot 58, Beth Hubbard with 59, Samara Carroll with 59 and Jacki Maher with 60.
The Wildcat’s match against Brandon was cancelled, but will be made up on May 17. Oxford will also have a tri-duel against Lapeer East and Lapeer West coming up on May 14. The match will not count in league standings.
