Oxford Sunoco for sale – again

It’s been only seven months since Oxford resident Ed Triest retired after 45 years and sold his Sunoco station back to Sunoco, Inc., yet the business is once again for sale.
A July 11 press release from the National Real Estate Clearinghouse (NRC) listed the 135 S. Washington St. establishment as one of 80 retail outlets in Michigan and southern Ohio being sold by Sunoco Inc.
NRC was retained to coordinate the sale of these retail outlets.
The stores in this sale are being offered with the intention that Sunoco, Inc. will continue to supply gasoline to the sites through long-term agreements with branded distributors.
“The sale of our direct-supplied Sunoco outlets in Michigan and southern Ohio is part of a continuing review and assessment of our assets,” according to Sunoco Senior Vice President of Marketing Robert W. Owens. “This real estate sale simply shifts the method of delivery from direct to distributor. We remain strongly committed to the Midwest market, and expect this sale to strengthen the Sunoco-branded distributor network.”
The stores will be sold through a sealed bid sale in a “buy one, some or all” format with bids due on Tuesday, September 9. A complete list will be available on-line at www.nrcBid.com/306 or by calling 1-800-747-3342 ext. 306.
NRC will conduct a “How-to-Bid Seminar” Aug. 7 at the Westin Southfield.
The Sunoco station at 378 S. Broadway St. in Lake Orion was also included in the list of stores for sale.
