The Oxford track team has ended the season on a high note with several individuals competing at their highest for state competition.
The highlight event of the day went to Donnie Richmond who placed fifth in the state for the 1600 meter, winning him a medal.
‘Donnie Richmond ran a very gutsy, well-raced race,? said Kaszeta. ‘He just raced phenomenal.?
The Oxford runner completed his run in 4 minutes and 10.9 seconds – his best time ever. He also just missed beating the school record.
In discus, Meghan Hickey threw her best ever at 120 feet. She took ninth in the state.
‘Both of our relay teams raced very well,? said Kaszeta. ‘The 4×200 was very aggressive.?
The team – comprised of Theresa Miner, Krysten Sylva, Darci Kujawa and Caryn Inman – came in at 1:47.9, while the 4×100 relay team – Jenelle Parker, Sylva, Kujawa and Miner – finished in 50.9 seconds.
‘The girl’s just an excellent race,? said Kaszeta.
Sylva also competed in the 100 Meter where she finished with her best time of the season 12.7 seconds.
‘She did very well even though she didn’t make it out of the preliminaries,? said Kaszeta.
‘We just had a beautiful, wonderful weekend. It was a great way to wrap up.?
