Oxford woman may have hung herself at park

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what appears to be the suicide of a 19-year-old Oxford woman in Friendship Park, located in Orion Township at the corner of Clarkston and Baldwin Roads.
According to an OCSD report, deputies were called to the scene on June 26, after the woman’s parents said they found her body at the park.
When deputies arrived, the parents were at the play structure near Clarkston Road, where they said they saw their daughter’s vehicle parked.
According to the report, the responding deputies observed the mother on her knees, holding the daughter.
They noted a rope mark on the girl’s neck, and found a synthetic rope lying on the ground near hear head.
Deputies also found a mark consistent with a rope being attached to the beam above, near the monkey bars of the play structure.
A lighter and razor were also found at the scene.
The woman’s father said he discovered his daughter below the monkey bars. Deputies observed scars on the woman’s wrist, as well as fresh scrapes.
The woman’s father told the OCSD that he had discovered his daughter was missing from the family’s home in Oxford that morning.
He went to her room, and found a note from the daughter, saying where she could be found. He alerted his wife, and they drove to Friendship Park.
Upon arriving at the park, the man said they saw their daughter’s vehicle, parked near the playground.
The father told the OCSD that his daughter had attempted suicide earlier this year, by slitting her wrist.
He said she was under psychiatric care and was receiving medication for depression.
