PaleOJoe brings fossils to Clear Lake

Clear Lake Elementary students last week got a blast from the past when ‘PaleoJoe? showed up with a bunch of fossils and facts straight from the prehistoric world.
His real name is Joseph Kchodl and he’s a paleontologist, children’s author and educator. He visited Clear Lake as part of March is Reading Month.
The kids ‘oohed? and ‘aahed? as PaleoJoe showed them fossilized dinosaur poop, mammoth and mastodon teeth, prehistoric deer vertebrae, a tooth from a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Velociraptor skull.
In addition to encouraging them to read, PaleoJoe also explained how fossils are created and what makes them hard like stone.
