Passport fair

Ortonville- The Department of State and Homeland Security has indicated that travel to both Canada and Mexico will require a passport after Jan. 1, 2007.
‘We’re concerned that people will wait until the last minute to get a passport’it can take extra time to process if a lot of people wait,? said Rick Moreton, Ortonville postmaster. So to stave off the rush and as a convenience for the community we’re offering some help.
The Ortonville Post office will be hosting a Passport Fair, from noon to 5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Jan 18 and 9 a.m.-noon, Jan. 19 at the Brandon School District Central Office at Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road.
Passports cost are $97 for persons 16 and older. Under 16 the cost is $82. The passports are valid for ten years for adults and five years for children. Those who have never received a passport need to provide their birth certificate with an embossed seal, a driver’s license or state identification card, and two identical passport photos. For $15, the post office will take passport photos if needed. For those who have had a passport they can replace the birth certificate with the previous passport. Details: (248) 627-2070.
