Folks who missed the first one in June will have another opportunity to speak at a public hearing regarding the Ox Bar & Grill’s request to have an outdoor seating area that utilizes a portion of downtown Oxford’s Centennial Park.
Last week, the village planning commission voted 4-2 to set the request aside and hold a second public hearing given the Ox is expected to submit revised plans that move the proposed outdoor cafe closer to the south side of its building, so it basically abuts the restaurant and its back door.
A rough sketch submitted to the village council shows the outdoor cafe occupying part of the sidewalk and part of the paved area on the park’s north side.
It also depicts a 5-foot-wide walkway for pedestrians along the proposed cafe’s east and south sides. The new plan basically calls for a buffer between the cafe and Oxford Garden Club’s garden area.
Planning commissioners requested a scale drawing and more details about the revised cafe proposal be submitted prior to scheduling another public hearing.
A date and time for the second hearing has not been set, but when it is, it will be published as a news brief and public notice in the Leader.
