Pearl DeCovich

DeCOVICH, PEARL MARY of Ortonville, formerly of Waterford; died November 11, 2019. She was 94. She was born on March 28, 925 in Hull, Yorkshire England. She married Joseph, E. DeCovich on May 18, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. Joe and Pearl met in Nottingham, England while Joe was serving as a glider pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Pearl worked for the Crown Colony Agency during WWII responsible for the supply of materials to the various colonies around the world. Along with thousands of other young ladies, Pearl became a ‘war bride’ traveling to America to marry the love of her life. Joe preceded Pearl in death in November, 2003. She is survived by her three children, Carole (Dennis) Neely, Dennis (Cheryl) DeCovich and Deborah (Jeff) Carress; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Camie) DeCovich, Heather (James) Lustig, Renee (Pete) Mattern, Shannon (Travis) Colter, Megan (Felipe) Camargo, Douglas (Brittany) Carress and Hilary Carress; also survived by 13 great grandchildren. Pearl worked for the First Congregational Church of Pontiac/Clarkston for nearly 30 years. She also served as an officer of the ‘Friends of the Brandon Township Public Library’ and as a volunteer at Genysis Hospital. A memorial visitation to honor Pearl’s life will be on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. at VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME-ORTONVILLE 135 South Street, Ortonville. Final resting place will be Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Brandon Twp. Friends of the Library or Karmanos Cancer Foundation.
