Penman resigns from school board

Lori Penman submitted her resignation from the Lake Orion School Board at a July 14 meeting. She’s been on the board for five years.
Penman recently remarried and is moving to another community. Her resignation becomes effective Aug. 1.
According to state law, the vacant seat must be filled within 30 days (Aug. 31) of the official resignation date.
Penman has two years left in her term. The school board is accepting applications from interested residents to fill this vacancy until the next scheduled election.
Requirements to be a member of the school board include being a resident of the school district, at least age 18 and not an employee of the district.
Individuals should send a letter of intent to Dr. Craig Younkman, Superintendent, Lake Orion Community Schools, 315 North Lapeer Street, Lake Orion, MI 48362. Included in this letter should be the qualifications of the individual applying for consideration.
