.-Police responding to pitbulls at large found the dogs’ owner to be aggressive.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office report, township deputies were called at 2:19 p.m., Nov. 28 to assist Oakland County Animal Control with pitbulls at large in the 3000 block of Sherwood Road. Upon arrival, they met the animal control officer who advised she was investigating the complaint from local neighbors that several pitbull terriers were running on Sherwood Road.
The dogs had returned to their home and when the animal control officer approached the residence and knocked on the door, she was almost attacked by a large brindle-colored pit bull terrier. The animal control officer advised the deputies she was going to impound that dog.
As the deputies were standing on the sidewalk adjacent to the front door of the residence, a female exited the home and said she had locked the dogs up inside the house. She then told the deputies to leave her property. When the animal control officer asked the woman for her name, the woman told her to “f***off” and to get the hell off her property. The officer asked her again for her identity, and was again met with several swear words and orders to get off the property.
At this time, a deputy advised the woman she was interfering with police duties and could be subject to arrest if her behavior continued. She told the deputy to “Get f***ed” and “f*** the police.” She was then advised she was under arrest, handcuffed, searched and placed into the patrol unit. She was told that if she would tell her name and the deputy could verify her identity, she would not be transported to jail and lodged for fingerprint identification.
She finally complied and was ultimately issued a misdemeanor citation for resisting or interfering with a police officer.
Animal control deputies completed their investigation and issued several citations. The woman was released at the scene and a report was forwarded to the 52-2 District Court.
