Police chase ends in Oxford

A police chase that began in Keego Harbor ended on the front lawn of 841 Glaspie Road, between W. Drahner and Oakdell roads in Oxford Township Tuesday morning.
A 49-year-old Davisburg man is in custody at the Oakland County Jail and facing possible charges of felonious assault and fleeing police.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Lt. Bruce Naile, commander of the Orion Township substation, it all began in Keego Harbor that morning when the suspect allegedly ‘pistol-whipped? his brother.
The suspect then allegedly took off in a 1994 red Oldsmobile convertible and led Keego Harbor Police on a chase which took them through Pontiac and Auburn Hills, Naile said.
However, Naile said Keego Harbor police officers lost him at the intersection of Baldwin Road and I-75.
An Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy soon spotted the suspect traveling eastbound on Clarkston Road, east of Baldwin Road, the lieutenant said.
The deputy followed the suspect to Clarkston and M-24 where he was joined by two other sheriff’s patrol cars. The three units attempted to stop the suspect, but again he fled, this time heading north on M-24.
Naile said at one point during the chase the suspect was traveling north in M-24’s southbound lanes.
The suspect got caught in traffic at M-24 and Drahner Road and started ramming his way through the civilian vehicles, colliding with two of them, Naile said.
He then turned left onto westbound Drahner Road, where he collided with two sheriff’s vehicles, Naile said. The suspect then turned onto Glaspie St., where he crashed into two more sheriff’s patrol cars and was finally forced off the road and onto the front lawn of 841 Glaspie St., according to the lieutenant.
Naile said the chase with sheriff’s deputies began at 10:16 a.m. and ended at 10:22 a.m.
Sheriff’s deputies took the man into custody and searched his vehicle. Naile said no handgun was found, as was originally reported. Naile speculated the suspect ‘pitched? the gun somewhere and noted sheriff’s personnel are searching for it.
The suspect was transported to the North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac, where he was treated and released, according to Naile. He’s currently being housed in the Oakland County Jail while awaiting arraignment.
Naile said Keego Harbor Police plan to charge the suspect with felonious assault and fleeing police. The lieutenant said the sheriff’s department will ‘probably do the same.?
In the sheriff’s department’s case, Naile said the felonious assault charge would involve the suspect’s alleged use of his vehicle to strike patrol cars.
