Heartless
On Feb. 20, a report was taken at the Brandon substation for credit card fraud. The complainant said Heartland America had sent him a letter saying his order was declined. He had never placed an order, which they told him originated in Ortonville. The card was cancelled.
6, 7, 8, who knows
On Feb. 20, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to Granger Road east of Sashabaw Road for a vehicle in the ditch. The complainant said she thought the driver was intoxicated. There was heavy front end damage to the vehicle and the driver was nowhere around. Deputies went to an address in the 4200 block of Granger Road to which the vehicle was registered. The deputies pleaded with the driver’s mother to let them in to see her son since he was in a serious crash and might be in need of medical treatment. They found the driver in a furnace room in the basement, drenched in sweat, with blood on his hand, a bump on his head, and slurred speech. Brandon Fire Department medics arrived and transported him to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for further evaluation. He admitted he was drinking at a party and said he’d had ‘six, seven, or eight beers.? He said he lost control and slid into a tree and fled the scene because he was scared. Blood was drawn at POH and he was cleared to be taken to the Oakland County Jail. A report was submitted to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for an operating while intoxicated warrant and leaving the scene of a personal damage accident.
Deadbeat
On Feb. 22, a Brandon deputy stopped a vehicle for an improper plate at Rama Court and Oakhill Road. A LEIN check found the driver had a warrant out for his arrest from Friend of the Court. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Unsafe
On Feb. 22, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 3900 block of Azalea Court. The complainant said someone entered the home without permission and removed a safe with his medications and papers inside from his master bedroom.
Marijuana scrap
On Feb. 23, a Brandon deputy on patrol on South Street observed a truck in front of him had a lot of scrap metal that was not strapped down and was an unsafe load. The driver failed to use his turn signal when turning left and the deputy stopped the vehicle and noticed an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver said he had smoked marijuana two hours prior. He was cited for marijuana use and improper/unsafe load. The passenger, who also admitted smoking, was cited for marijuana use.
Missing jewels
On Feb. 24, a Brandon deputy on patrol was dispatched to the 1600 block of E. Seymour Lake Road for larceny. The complainant found several pieces of jewelry missing two days prior. The case is open.
Coke- the real thing
On Feb. 24, a Brandon deputy on patrol at Sashabaw and Oakhills roads observed a vehicle pass another on the dirt shoulder before turning north on Sashabaw Road without stopping. The deputy caught up with the vehicle at Lake Knolls Drive and made a traffic stop. The driver said she didn’t have her driver’s license. She gave the deputy her name and when he checked it in LEIN, he found her license had been suspended several times. The woman was very fidgety and when he searched her vehicle, he found a white substance inside a plastic wrapper in her purse on the front seat. A field test confirmed it was crack cocaine. The woman admitted she smoked crack an hour prior to the deputy pulling her over. Also found in the vehicle was a glass pipe loaded with crack and Chore Boy inside the glovebox. She was taken to Oakland County Jail and warrants were authorized for felony possession of cocaine less than 25 grams and driving while license suspended.
