Road rage
On March 19, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the Brandon Bus Garage, 817 S. Ortonville Road, for a report of assault and battery. The complainant said he and a friend were walking alongside the driveway when a van with two occupants yelled at them to get out of the road. Words and gestures were exchanged and the van returned, striking the complainant at about 2-3 miles per hour. The driver then hit the suspect on the side of his head and ear with an ice scraper. The complainant declined to press charges against the suspect he knows as a student at Brandon High School.
Copper caper
On March 19, a report was made by a Brandon deputy for a larceny that occurred between March 15 and 17 at Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road. The complainant said an unknown suspect cut a fence and cut locks to construction trailers. The owner of the trailers said multiple copper pipes, fittings, etc. had been stolen. The case is open.
Warranted
On March 20, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 7500 block of Highland Road to pick up a man wanted on a Friend of the Court warrant. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail without incident.
Creepy carpenter
On March 20, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 5600 block of Bliss for harassment. The complainant said she was being harassed by a carpenter who believes she owes him $1,670. She says she overpaid him $53.42. A civil court date was set, but he failed to appear, she said, and he has called her 15 times during the past year. The deputy advised her to obtain a restraining order and contact her phone company.
Bad company
On March 21, a walk-in complaint was taken at the Brandon substation. The complainant said her son was assaulted in their home on Viola by a suspect who was formerly his friend. The pair had been arrested two days before and are suspected in Brandon/Clarkston larceny and home invasion crimes. The suspect called his friend to get property returned and they discussed what they had each said in police interviews. The suspect called his friend a snitch and started punching him. The complainant wants protection for her son. The deputy advised the complainant’s son to stop communicating and associating with the suspect.
Caned
On March 21, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to a group home in the 1000 block of Legault Boulevard for an assault and battery. Witnesses said one severely mentally retarded resident struck another on the top of his head with a small wooden cane, resulting in a small laceration. Before the deputy cleared the scene, both residents were resting in their rooms.
Whiskey, Tupperware
On March 21, at about 1:55 a.m., Brandon deputies were dispatched to a home in the 2600 block of Oak Trail for a possible fight in the driveway. Upon arrival, the deputies saw no one in the drive, but observed the garage door wide open with a beer can on the floor and noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. They heard several loud persons inside the home and entered under the Community Caretaker Act to ensure there were no injured parties. Several juveniles were in the kitchen and appeared intoxicated. The deputy found several garbage bags with empty beer cans and two cases of 30-pack Busch Light, as well as a half-empty fifth bottle of Five O’Clock vodka and a half-empty fifth of R&R whiskey. Two juvenile males were on couches in the living room, one with his face down in a Tupperware bowl which contained fresh vomit. The homeowner’s son was upstairs asleep and said his mom was on vacation in Florida. About 20 people were at the party, including several uninvited subjects, and a fight broke out with no serious injuries. Nine subjects were issued citations for consuming alcohol under age 21. The homeowner’s son was cited for host ordinance violation. Parents were contacted to pick up their children and others were dropped off to their parents and advised.
Funneled
On March 23, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 4300 block of Wildwood Loop for larceny. The complainant said last night someone funneled gas out of her parked vehicle’s gas tank.
