Atlas Twp. – In a one-week period, items were stolen from 14 unlocked cars in rural areas of the township.
Purses, phones, briefcases, and laptop computers were taken between May 18 and 25 from cars parked at homes near Rose Lane, as well as South Irish, Coolidge, and South State roads, said Detective Sgt. Mike Tocarchick, commander of the Genesee County Sheriff Atlas Township Precinct.
The rash of larcenies seems to fit the pattern of a case Tocarchick was involved in two years ago, involving more than 200 larcenies spread across several counties.
‘You get a rash all at once, then they hit another area. It’s usually at night in certain rural areas.?
Tocarchick encourages neighbors to report tips.
‘You can call in anonymously,? he said. ‘That’s how we catch ’em.?
