An Orion Township man, Matthew R. McBee, 35, is being held on a $500,000 bond for a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
On the night of Tuesday, January 7, McBee allegedly showed a 7-year-old girl pornographic materials before assaulting her according to reports. The alleged incident took place in his home in the 800 block of Sherry Drive.
The girl’s mother was made aware of the alleged incident the next morning and contacted local police, who arrested McBee late morning, Wednesday January 8. He was detained at the Oakland County Jail.
Police provided their report to prosecutors Thursday, January 8 and McBee was arraigned at the 52-3 District Court before Judge Julie Nicholson.
Judge Nancy Carniak continued McBee’s $500,000 bond cash with no ten percent surety Tuesday, January 14. Prosecutors met with McBee’s defense attorney, Pamela Johnson from Birmingham, and both parties waived the 14-day rule regarding the district court exam for further review of discovery, setting a preliminary exam for Friday, February 10.
The DHS-Children’s Family Services and Care House of Oakland County also supplied evidence for the investigation.
A person is guilty of criminal sexual conduct of the first degree if there is penetration with a victim under the age of 13 among other conditions indicating the assaulter was in control. The charge carries up to 25 years in prison if convicted, along with life electronic monitoring.
Police are still ascertaining interviews and other data, including investigating other potential victims of McBee.
Previous reports indicated McBee as the live-in boyfriend, however, he is listed in public records as the homeowner.
