Readers sound off about Green Beret poser Nicholas George

I must admit, when I first read the article questioning whether or not Mr. George had graduated as a Green Beret, I was upset by it.
After being so inspired by the original story, I was hurt to see the man dragged into the mud so soon after Memorial Day.
The truth isn’t always what we want to hear.
When I got home from drilling with my current National Guard unit earlier this evening, I found your latest article sitting on my desk.
It was difficult to read; in a way, it made me angry that someone would hide behind the honor and courage of the men and women who protect this country, but it was also relieving to see that you had gone to such lengths to discover the true story.
So, thank you, sir. Thank you for giving us the truth and for being a fair voice for our great town.

Nicholas George needs to be put in prison, in my opinion.
I had a brother killed in Vietnam and another brother who served four years in the Air Force. I spent two years in the Army.
I am very angry at this man pretending to be a superhero. He is a lying piece of crap, in my opinion, who needs to be punished for disgracing all those who served and the many who died protecting our country.
I hope that the next time I read the name Nicholas George is when he is sentenced to prison.

The story of the Oxford man posing as a retired U.S. Army sergeant major and Green Beret irks me to my core!
My daughter has a wonderful grandfather, Lorenzo Rivera (see photo below), who is a retired command sergeant major. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He is the great-grandfather to my grandson, Caden Palmer, who is entering the fourth-grade at Orion Oaks Elementary and my granddaughter, Ariana Palmer, who will be a kindergartner at the same school.
He wears his hat proudly, getting stopped on the street for a handshake and a picture.
He doesn’t have to say a word to those who know and recognize the accomplishment proudly displayed everywhere he goes.
He is now living his last days in hospice in the Tampa, Florida area.
This man, Nicholas George, should be ashamed! Disgusting!
