Children will soon have the opportunity to investigate a make-believe crime scene, create exciting new games, design boats, hovercrafts and gliders, and transform ordinary household items into extraordinary inventions when the Camp Invention program arrives in Oxford this summer.
The program is scheduled for July 9 through July 13 at Clear Lake Elementary School.
Camp Invention, open to children entering first through sixth grades, fosters creativity, teamwork, inventive-thinking skills and science literacy.
The program was created in 1990 by the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation, and receives support from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
‘Parents will find that this year’s Camp Invention program provides a magical mix of creative exercises that encourages brainstorming, teamwork and problem solving,? said Julie Adema, coordinator for the event.
Adema, of Clear Lake Elementary, will direct a staff of local instructors and counselors.
The program features a low staff-child ratio, with one staff member for every eight children.
Children in 47 states across the country attended the Camp Invention program in 2006.
The $199 registration fee, due on or before May 31, includes daily snacks and a T-shirt.
A discount of $19 per child is offered before March 15, or with the program’s Bring-A-Friend program, which begins March 16.
Registrations received after May 31 require an additional $20 for late processing. Each program is limited to 110 children.
