School elections set

The Clarkston Board of Education voted Monday to establish May as the annual school election month.
No one from the general public attended a public hearing on the issue, but school officials reviewed their reasoning behind the resolution, required under a new state election law which takes effect in 2005.
Schools ‘are given a sense of priority and focus’without mixing them in with state and national politics,? said Deputy Superintendent David Reschke, noting the May date ‘is least disruptive to our current school operations.?
School elections, including the vote for school board members, have been in June. Without the resolution, the new law would have required school elections to be consolidated with November elections.
