The increase, the first in eight years, will cover a $9,000 wage increase, a $19,000 food cost increase and equipment increases of $11,400.
Prior to the increases, Brandon Schools was among the lowest school lunch cost, ranking 27th of 28 Oakland County school districts. Bloomfield Hills school lunches cost the most in Oakland County at $2.40 for elementary schools and $2.65 for high schools.
Bandon School District serves about 160,000 lunches each school year.
‘Next year we’re expecting a deficit of about $40,000,? said Bart Jenniches, Brandon Schools Superintendent. ‘Without the price increase, we’d have take it out of savings.?
