Dear Editor,
(In response to, Brandon Schools braces for $2 million plus deficit, The Citizen, Dec. 31, 2011 page 4.) In the recent article about Brandon High School dealing with a financial deficit, they made the suggestion of closing the high school pool. As I recall, the community passed a millage increase to pay for the construction and maintenance of the pool. It is the community’s pool. If the district wants to close it, will they refund taxpayers and decrease the millage accordingly? Perhaps they should work with the community to promote this asset. It is a beautiful, well maintained pool with classes and open swim times to accommodate all ages and work schedules. Many people in our community aren’t even aware that this is available for their use.
