Oxford Elementary students went around the globe last week, but didn’t need passports because they never actually left their building on Pontiac St.
For an entire day, the school was transformed into a smorgasbord of international foods, customs, music and activities.
Each classroom offered a unique and fun educational experience.
In one room, students learned how to do the famed Mexican hat dance.
In others, they practiced Yoga and Tai Chi or learned about Middle Eastern instruments and music.
Outside they got physical with an introduction to the art of Tae Kwon Do, while inside the gymnasium, they loaded their plates at a buffet resembling a gastronomic United Nations.
Perhaps the most exciting portion of the day was when students got the opportunity to view exotic animals from five continents including a South American two-toed tree sloth and a Burmese python.
