Being forced to fit their competition schedule into a fickle winter has not led to much time on the hill for the boys and girls ski teams at Clarkston High School. But amidst the rainy days, the teams have managed to both start the season at 3-0.
‘It’s just very hard to train. We haven’t had any training time at all,? first-year Clarkston Coach Mike Foyteck said.
On Jan. 11, the boys and girls each defeated Rochester Adams and Andover in the slalom. Poor conditions forced the cancellation of the grand slalom portion of the meet on Jan. 12.
Clarkston’s boys defeated Andover 14-27 and triumphed over Adams 17-25.
Leading the way for the boys were Eric Weiland, Scott Huber, Bradley Gale and Cobie Bland.
On the girls side, the Wolves summarily dispatched Andover 10-31 and vanquished Adams 10-33.
Hannah Wolf, Heather Barron, Alyssa Vermeulen, Maddy Dunn provided the scoring for the girls.
In the ski teams first meet of the season only the grand slalom was run against Rochester High on Jan. 9. The boys team won 14-24 while the girls were victorious 10-32.
The first of a two day meet against Lahser and Notre Dame took place on Jan. 17, which finished too late for this edition of The Clarkston News. The grand slalom portion of the meet is set for Jan. 18.
