The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department were called to do a welfare check on a man slumped over the wheel of his vehicle on Eaton Gate Road on June 29.
According to an OCSD report, the 49-year-old Dryden man was found to be intoxicated, and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The man was found sleeping in his vehicle, facing the wrong way in the eastbound lane of Eaton Gate. The vehicle was not running, but the keys were in the ignition. When a deputy woke the man, he attempted to start his vehicle four times.
He was asked to step out of the vehicle and tried to run away. When the deputy asked for his driver’s license, he instead gave the deputy a stopwatch.
The man admitted he had been drinking and said he was trying to get home from Pine Knob. He was lodged in Oakland County Jail and his vehicle was impounded.
