The Orion Township Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on Bald Mountain on Aug. 11 after some rags in the basement began to smolder.
All three Orion Township Fire Department Stations were dispatched to the home at 4:54 a.m. According to Orion Township Fire Chief Jeff Key, the homeowners had been doing some staining and trim work in the home and left some used rags in the basement.
“Apparently, the started to smolder and caught fire…it was confined to a small corner of the basement laundry room,” he said.
Key said there were no injuries, but there was some smoke damage to the rest of the home.
