Oakland County Parks manages areas inhabited by Michigan’s only venomous snake, the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake. This shy and well-camouflaged snake can be found along park trails.
Oakland County Parks will host a rattlesnake recognition class on April 19 from 2-3 p.m. at Wint Nature Center, Independence Oaks. Learn how to recognize this protected snake and avoid its bite. Live snakes will help with identification.
