Soccer finally returns home

The girls varsity soccer team plays a pair of home games this week after playing five straight league games on the road.
Coach Ken Snage said his team has been plagued by injuries, illnesses and team matters, but is looking forward to the second half of the season, which includes three more home OAA I contests and a tough district.
Top players so far have been Kaitlin Denton, Sarah Merritt, Ashley Poirer, Lauren Drury, Rachael Israel, Alicia Tirpak, Jenna Hill, Kaitlynn Young, Rachel Werth and Hailey Redd, according to the coach.
The team is 4-6-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the state’s toughest league, including a 1-0 loss in the final minute to Lahser last Thursday.
