Softball team wins league title, district play begins this week

Lake Orion’s varsity softball team clinched the OAA Red Division title in fine fashion.
The Dragons locked up the title in the first game of a doubleheader against Troy but then also went on to win the nightcap.
Sierra Gonzales pitched Lake Orion to the title in the first game by throwing a one-hitter in five innings as the Dragons won, 10-0.
Kayla Knoblock, Alexandra Carpenter and Kennedi Thomas led the Dragon’s hit attack.
The wins gave Lake Orion a 24-6 record on the year.
They are ranked second in Oakland County and sixth in the state.
