South Street bridge project moves forward

Ortonville – With the Sept. 7 delivery of the bridge structure, engineers say South Street will soon be open to through traffic.
‘It’s just a matter of piecing it all together, and barring all other complications it should be together by next week,? said Leanne Homberg-Panduren of Rowe Incorporated.
Homberg-Panduren explained that the bridge pieces should be assembled within four days of delivery. The wooden structure that was delivered is of separate beams, decking, and railings that basically will be pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle.
Once assembled, details such as pouring cement around the walkway base should be completed by the end of the week, according to Homberg-Panduren.
The South Street Bridge project began earlier this summer and due to several setbacks has been about one month behind schedule.
