Spears and Murray join school district

Lake Orion Community Schools has appointed Amy Spears as associate principal at Lake Orion High School. Spears was most recently assistant principal at Mason High School near Lansing, beginning in 2007. Prior to that, she was an assistant to the superintendent, special projects/teacher with the Buckley Community Schools District from 2004-2007. Spears was a member of the Michigan State University Principal Panel in 2009-10. She began her career as a high school English and business teacher with Buckley Community Schools. She received a Master of Arts Degree in educational administration and school principalship from Central Michigan University.
In addition, Robert Murray was named assistant principal at Waldon Middle School. Murray was most recently a fourth-and-fifth-grade teacher for Oxford Community Schools, beginning in 2004. His leadership roles included the implementation of the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Program at Leonard Elementary School, as well as served on the Oxford Community School District’s Curriculum Council. Murray received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in teaching and educational leadership, respectively, from Oakland University.
