When most people go to the mailbox they find letters, newspapers and packages.
Not Oxford resident Charles Schram. He found a screech owl.
Schram’s mail carrier discovered the creature nesting there around 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9.
‘She reached up and it screeched at her. She jumped back. She didn’t know what it was,? he said.
The mail carrier notified Schram.
‘I figured it flew in and stayed in there all day,? he said. ‘It was still in there at 6 p.m. when I went bowling on Tuesday night. When I came back, I looked in the mailbox and he was gone.?
Schram believes the bird was using his mailbox for shelter while it snowed.
‘I figured it stopped in there just to get out of the storm,? he said.
