Spikers defy 15-year trend

For the first time in 15 years, the Lake Orion varsity volleyball team won it’s first district championship.
Last weekend, the girls beat Rochester 25-15, 25-17 and 25-15.
‘We had a great team effort from everyone,? said Coach Bob Howey, adding balanced statistics were led by Shannon Murdock with 10 kills, Liz Kalugar with 10 kills, Taylor Hargraves with seven kills, Alyssa Wesley with 33 assists, Maddie Hutchison with 20 digs and Linnea Berriman with seven blocks.
The team’s overall record is now 40-15-7.
