When local government wants to raise your taxes, rezone your neighbor’s property or give themselves a pay raise they are to keep residents informed. In Michigan they are to post notices in a newspaper with circulations within their boarders.
Starting in January, residents of Springfield Township can find those public notices in the pages of The Clarkston News. On Dec. 8, the Springfield Township Board of Trustees voted 4-3 to entrust these notices with Sherman Publications, Inc. — publishers of The CNews and Penny Stretcher.
You don’t have to read any of the papers to get the notices, The Clarkston News also posts these notices on-line. Now, 24 hours a day, seven days a week residents can check up on what their government is up to by going on-line at www.clarkstonnews.com
The public notice link is located on the left side of the webpage.
We believe in the public’s right to know what their elected and appointed officials are doing and we welcome Springfield Township aboard. Residents can look for the above Public Notice Logo to find notices affecting you.
Springfield Township joins Independence Township and the City of the Village of Clarkston who had already trusted The Cnews to keep their citizenry informed. — DPR
